Beeswax is a natural wax produced in the bee hive of honey bees of the genus Apis. Beeswax has unique properties that make it an ideal substance for skin creams and ointments.

It doesn’t dissolve in water, so give the skin a protective layer preventing moisture loss, and improving its elasticity, making it ideal for relieving chapped skin, and in this regard has ben found to be superior to the action of mineral oil/petrolatum. It is also completely non-toxic, does not provoke allergy and has antibiotic and warming properties.

Synthetic beeswax is available as a vegan alternative, but this is a type of plastic that we prefer not to us in products for the lips that may be unintentionally ingested.

Moreover some studies have found that natural products such as beeswax, were more effective for sensitive skin than skincare products with synthetic ingredients.
